The Gem City JazzCats were formed in 2009 by Clyde Towles, his son Ron, and other former Monrovia High School band members.
In June 2009 they performed together for the first time since high school, at the Garfield Heights Street Fair in Pasadena, CA, and have performed there every year since.
The original core of musicians remains, while the band has evolved through the years with the addition of other musicians from nearby communities.
The big band also features a trio of talented vocalists. They can also downsize to fit the needs of each individual event.
In 2016, the JazzCats recorded their first Demo CD on the campus of Citrus College in Azusa, CA.
The JazzCats perform a variety of musical genres…classic swing, Rat Pack, funk, rock, r&b, pop, dance and tribute music from the last 100 years.
They have performed at local concerts in the parks, street fairs, corporate and charitable events, as well as private parties and weddings.
